GHIC Receives Additional $53M from BARDA
August 25, 2022
Since receiving its initial installment of BARDA funding in September 2021, GHIC has now received additional BARDA funding, bringing the total to $74.6 million. These funds will be used by GHIC to invest in companies to accelerate the development and commercialization of technologies and medical products to strengthen global health security and pandemic preparedness, as well as generate a financial return.
The GHIC-BARDA agreement provides for BARDA funding to GHIC of up to $500 million over 10 years, subject to availability of funding.
GHIC has commenced investment activities through direct investments in eligible companies, and will make additional investments alongside matching capital from the public, philanthropic, and private sectors. As the investments generate financial returns, proceeds from BARDA Ventures funding will be reinvested by GHIC to generate additional health security impact.
